Melt blown fabric applicants:

Melt blown nonwoven fabric is composed of a narrow diameter distribution and a low degree of fiber filling thereof. This nonwoven fabric has a soft and elastic properties, and also has excellent filtration performance.

The main raw material of melt-blown cloth is polypropylene with high melt index, a film formed by laminating many criss-cross fibers in random directions. The fiber diameter is about one-thirtieth of that of hair. .

The process of melt-blown cloth: polymer feeding-melt extrusion-fiber formation-fiber cooling-netting-reinforcement into cloth.

Industry knowledge

What is the significance of the machine speed in melt-blown fabric production?
The machine speed in melt-blown fabric production holds crucial significance, impacting both the efficiency of the manufacturing process and the quality of the final product. Melt-blown fabric, known for its fine fibers and diverse applications, is produced through a complex and intricate process that is influenced by the speed at which the machine operates.
Productivity and Output:The machine speed directly correlates with the rate at which the entire manufacturing process is completed. Higher speeds often lead to increased productivity and higher output, allowing manufacturers to meet growing demands and optimize their production capabilities.
Fiber Formation and Distribution:The speed of the melt-blown machine affects the formation and distribution of the melt-blown fibers. Optimal speeds contribute to the creation of a uniform and well-distributed fiber network, crucial for achieving the desired characteristics of the fabric, such as its filtration efficiency and strength.
Quality Control:Controlling the machine speed is a key aspect of maintaining quality standards. Too high or too low speeds may result in variations in fiber diameter, distribution, and overall fabric consistency. Manufacturers carefully set the machine speed to ensure that the melt-blown fabric meets specified standards and performance requirements.
Energy Consumption:Machine speed influences energy consumption during the production process. Striking a balance between speed and energy efficiency is essential for sustainable manufacturing practices. Modern melt-blown machines often come equipped with features that optimize energy usage at different speeds.
Adaptability to Applications:Different applications of melt-blown fabric may require specific characteristics. The machine speed can be adjusted to tailor the fabric for diverse uses. For example, face masks may necessitate a specific filtration efficiency, and the machine speed plays a role in achieving this requirement.
Process Stability:Maintaining a consistent and stable production process is essential for reliable and high-quality output. The machine speed, when well-regulated, contributes to process stability, minimizing fluctuations and ensuring that each batch of melt-blown fabric meets the desired standards.

What is the Melt Flow Index (MFI), and how does it affect the fabric produced?
The Melt Flow Index (MFI) is a crucial parameter in the realm of melt-blown fabric production, influencing the characteristics of the final product. MFI is a measure of the flowability of a polymer melt at a specific temperature and pressure, providing insights into the material's processing behavior. In the context of melt-blown fabric, MFI plays a significant role in shaping the fabric's properties and performance.
Definition of Melt Flow Index:MFI quantifies the rate at which a thermoplastic polymer, such as polypropylene in the case of melt-blown fabric, extrudes through a standardized orifice under specific conditions of temperature and pressure. It is expressed in grams per ten minutes (g/10 min).
Influence on Fiber Diameter:MFI is directly linked to the viscosity of the molten polymer. A higher MFI indicates lower viscosity and vice versa. In melt-blown fabric production, the MFI affects the diameter of the extruded fibers. Higher MFI values generally lead to finer fibers, impacting the fabric's texture and filtration properties.
Filtration Efficiency:Melt-blown fabric is widely recognized for its excellent filtration performance. The MFI of the polymer used in production plays a pivotal role in determining the fabric's filtration efficiency. Fine fibers, influenced by a higher MFI, contribute to increased surface area and enhanced filtration capabilities.
Fabric Strength and Durability:While a higher MFI tends to result in finer fibers, it may also impact the overall strength and durability of the fabric. Striking a balance is crucial to ensure that the fabric maintains structural integrity while achieving the desired filtration performance.
Process Stability:MFI can affect the stability of the melt-blown process of melt-blown machines. Consistency in the MFI values of the polymer is essential for maintaining uniformity in fiber formation. Fluctuations in MFI can lead to variations in fiber diameter, potentially affecting the quality and performance of the fabric.
Customization for Applications:
The MFI provides a means to customize melt-blown fabric for specific applications. Different industries and uses may require fabrics with varying characteristics. Adjusting the MFI allows manufacturers to tailor the fabric to meet the specific requirements of applications such as face masks, sound insulation, or oil absorption sheets.
